Balan's has returned to Lincoln Road. The all-day brasserie reopened Sept. 17 at 1022 Lincoln Road, the address where it opened its first U.S. restaurant in 1997, taking over the space from Issabella's, which held its final service Aug. 30 after nearly five years, as the Miami Herald first reported in August.
Owners Jonathan and Keva Balan opened Issabella's, a Mediterranean concept, in the space in 2021. In a statement to the Herald, they called the return a homecoming and noted that few independent Miami restaurants get to go back to the exact place where their story began. Balan's, founded in London in 1987, also remains open at Mary Brickell Village in Brickell.
In an Instagram video posted Oct. 7, the restaurant said brunch, lunch, dinner and happy hour are all under way again and that it was good to be back in the neighborhood.

What's on the menu
Balan's is serving brunch daily until 4 p.m., plus an international dinner menu, cocktails and coffee, according to the Herald and a press release published by World Red Eye. Returning favorites include eggs Benedict, Belgian waffles, the Balan's burger and fish and chips.
The Herald reported that the new restaurant isn't meant to replicate the original in every respect, with new menu items, many of them Mediterranean in style, and new programming.
Happy hour runs daily from 3 to 6 p.m., according to the release, which also describes plans for sunset events, live music and rotating patio programming.
A changing Lincoln Road
The reopening comes as the city's $29.4 million Lincoln Road upgrade moves into its second phase. Sidewalk work began at Drexel Avenue in August, and the city has said businesses along the pedestrian mall will remain open during construction.
Balan's is at 1022 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach.
