A stretch of North Beach that has long struggled with too few public parking options is about to get a meaningful upgrade. The City of Miami Beach will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, July 17, at 9 a.m. to officially open 150 new public parking spaces in an existing garage at 260 67th Street — a facility tied to the future redevelopment of the iconic Deauville Hotel site and timed to serve World Cup watch party crowds descending on the neighborhood this weekend.

A Long-Dormant Garage, Reactivated

The new spaces occupy a garage that sat idle for years, part of a larger development agreement between the city and Terra, the South Florida real estate firm planning to build a new hotel on the property that once housed the storied Deauville Beach Resort, which was demolished in 2022 after falling into disrepair.

Miami Beach Commissioner Tanya K. Bhatt, who represents North Beach, called the opening a landmark moment. "This parking structure has been a dormant drain on the community for about 10 years," Bhatt said in a city press release. "This marks the first significant infusion of resident parking spaces in North Beach in decades — and it's coming not a moment too soon."

The 150 spaces represent the first phase of a planned total of 300 public parking spaces the garage will eventually offer under the terms of the development agreement between the city and Terra.

Rates, Hours, and How to Pay

The garage will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Miami Beach residents who have enrolled in resident parking rates will pay $1 per hour; nonresidents will pay $2 per hour.

This weekend, given the cluster of World Cup watch events planned at the nearby Miami Beach Bandshell, general event flat-rate pricing of $15 will apply — though registered Miami Beach residents qualify for a 50% discount on that event rate.

Drivers should note that the garage is cashless only. Payment is accepted exclusively through the ParkMobile or PayByPhone mobile apps. Vehicles should enter from 67th Street.

Residents enrolled in Residential Parking Zone 26 may also use the garage for overnight parking on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tied to Deauville Redevelopment

The garage opening is one component of a broader development deal between the city and Terra,

whose redevelopment plans for the historic Deauville Hotel site received full approval from the Miami Beach City Commission on June 27, finalizing zoning, land use, building height, and public-benefit commitments.

Terra is a South Florida real estate developer focused on creating design-driven communities through civic engagement and thoughtful development.

David Martin, Terra's CEO, framed the garage opening as part of that civic mission. "Infrastructure is essential to supporting economic activity, improving mobility, and enhancing the urban experience," Martin said. "We are proud to partner with the City of Miami Beach on projects that strengthen the city's long-term competitiveness, improve quality of life, and create lasting value for the community."

Mayor Steven Meiner also weighed in, saying the new spaces "will provide convenience for residents and visitors while supporting local businesses, community events and the future redevelopment of the Deauville site."

World Cup Watch Parties Next Door

The timing is no accident. The Miami Beach Bandshell is an open-air amphitheater located beachside in the North Shore Historic District, just steps from the new garage, and soccer fans were already gathering there July 14 to watch a World Cup semifinal on a big screen.

Additional watch events are scheduled through the weekend.

The Miami Beach Bandshell welcomed more than 70,000 people to 140-plus public concerts, festivals, and special events last year, underscoring the demand that new parking infrastructure in the neighborhood is meant to help absorb.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony takes place Friday, July 17, at 9 a.m. at 260 67th Street. The garage entrance is on 67th Street. For accessibility accommodations, contact the City of Miami Beach at 305.604.2232.
